The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Mr Sani Mohammed Ndanusa as a Non-Career Ambassador/High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The confirmation followed the consideration and adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, paving the way for President Bola Tinubu to post Ndanusa to a Nigerian diplomatic mission.

The committee’s report, presented by Senator Sani Abubakar (Niger North), recommended the approval of Ndanusa’s nomination for the diplomatic position.

Presiding over plenary, Senate President Godswill Akpabio presented the report of the Committee of the Whole for consideration by lawmakers.

After confirming that the report reflected the proceedings of the committee, Akpabio put the recommendation to a voice vote, which received unanimous support from senators.

Announcing the decision, Akpabio declared: “The Senate confirms the nomination of Engineer Sani Muhammad Ndanusa for appointment as a Non-Career Ambassador/High Commissioner of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

He congratulated Ndanusa on the confirmation and expressed confidence in his ability to bring his experience to bear on his new responsibilities.

“I wish him well in his current assignment, and I hope that God will enable him and grant him more wisdom to do as he has done in other previous engagements,” the Senate President said.

Ndanusa’s confirmation completes the Senate’s screening and legislative approval of his nomination, leaving his posting to a foreign mission to be determined by the President.

The appointment is part of the Federal Government’s diplomatic representation aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s bilateral relations and advancing its foreign policy interests.
