Oba Akintoye Adeoye, President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), has called for stronger partnerships to promote sustainable growth in Nigeria’s housing and real estate sector.
Adeoye made the call in a statement signed by the association’s Executive Secretary and Business Development Specialist, Mr John Saka, issued in Abuja on Thursday.
Speaking at the ongoing 5th Amadeo Business Summit 2026 in Enugu, the president stressed that sustainable growth in the housing sector requires partnerships among government, developers, financial institutions, investors and other stakeholders.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the summit with the theme, “Sustaining Growth and Soaring,” was organised to help businesses and institutions build scalable systems capable of sustaining growth and long-term relevance.
Adeoye pointed out that the challenge was not only to increase housing supply but also to create an enabling environment for developers to access affordable and long-term finance.
According to him, stronger public-private partnerships, innovative financing mechanisms, improved land administration, were essential to achieving sustainable housing delivery.
“The challenge before us is not only to increase housing supply, but also to create an enabling environment where developers can access affordable and long-term finance.
“An environment where investors can operate with confidence, homebuyers can access sustainable mortgage solutions, and the industry can function within a predictable, transparent and effective regulatory framework.
“Stronger public-private partnerships, innovative financing mechanisms, improved land administration, sound regulation and professional standards are essential to achieving sustainable housing delivery,” he said.
The president urged stakeholders to collectively address challenges relating to affordable housing finance, access to serviced land, infrastructure deficits, regulatory processes, consumer protection and reliable housing data.
He added that the South-East had enormous potential for real estate investment, urban development and economic expansion, if supported by the right policy environment and strategic investment.
“With the right policy environment, strategic investment, improved infrastructure, innovative financing mechanisms and stronger public-private partnerships, the region can unlock significant opportunities for housing delivery, job creation and economic prosperity,” he said.
Adeoye described the real estate sector as key to growing the nation’s economy, adding that it could create jobs, attracts investments, supports other businesses, and builds wealth for communities if properly harnessed.
He congratulated the organisers of the summit and expressed hope that the discussions at the summit would help improve Nigeria’s housing sector and support economic growth. (NAN)
