Organisers of the African Traditional Food Fair have said the 8th edition of the annual food fiesta will showcase Nigerian rich and diverse culinary traditions and promote sustainable food systems.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Daughter Jack, Media Coordinator of the fair, the organisers said the event would promote Nigerian cuisine and advocate resilient food systems.
According to the organisers, the 2026 edition of the festival, also known as Mba’Apostoli Food Festival, will hold from Oct. 16 to Oct. 17 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion in Abuja.
The statement said the two-day event is themed: “Food for Tomorrow: Reviving Indigenous Foods for Healthy Living, Climate-Resilient and Food-Secure Nigeria”.
The organisers said the event would bring together farmers, food entrepreneurs, processors, chefs, researchers, policymakers and other stakeholders, with discussions on nutrition, food security, climate resilience, livelihoods and preservation of Africa’s food heritage.
“The Mba’Apostoli Multipurpose Cooperative, in partnership with the Global Initiative for Food Security and Ecosystem Preservation (GIFSEP), Sustainability Eternal and Kasejene, is convening the fair,” the statement said.
According to the organisers, the fair which is part of activities commemorating World Food Day 2026, will open with a news conference at 9 am on Oct. 16.
The organisers said the news conference would formally unveil the fair, highlight its objectives and activities, and engage the media on the importance of indigenous foods.
“Day one will feature a policy dialogue on indigenous and sustainable food systems, exhibitions and stakeholder engagements.
“The second day will feature the African food and cultural fiesta, including food,” the statement said.(NAN)
