The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a wanted suspect, Udochukwu Okafor, 26, popularly known as “Small-Moto,” over alleged armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism.

Okafor was arrested on Saturday during a targeted operation by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, also over secessionist-related offences in Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area of the state.

The command on Sunday said preliminary interrogation showed that Okafor allegedly admitted to snatching a pump-action firearm from a vigilante operative in Ebenebe.

He also allegedly disclosed that he had a locally made short gun, which he and other members of his alleged gang used during their operations.

The police further said the suspect allegedly admitted to being a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Aro-Baggers,” which it said was suspected of involvement in cult-related violence in Awka and its environs.

The Command said it had intensified investigations to recover the firearms allegedly mentioned by the suspect and establish the full extent of his alleged involvement in the criminal activities.

It added that efforts were also ongoing to arrest other suspected members of the gang who remain at large, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.

The Command assured residents that it would continue efforts to identify and arrest individuals involved in criminal activity in the state to protect public safety.
