The family of one of the victims abducted along the Kwara-Kogi border has appealed to Nigerians for help to raise N10m to secure the release of a newlywed couple and four others.
The appeal was made by Praise Alonge, whose younger brother, Precious Alonge, is among those in captivity.
In a post on Facebook on Saturday, Praise said his brother has spent one week in the kidnappers’ den.
He wrote, “My immediate younger brother, Precious Alonge has been in kidnappers’ den for a week now. Please, help us release him and other victims.”
He said the family is seeking public support to raise N10m for their rescue.
The victims were abducted last Saturday evening along the Eruku-Iyemero road bordering Kogi and Kwara states.
They were said to be returning from an engagement ceremony in Eruku when they were attacked.
It was gathered that the vehicle was expected to take the Isanlu Road but the driver took a back route to drop off the best man and other members of the group in Iyamoye, Kogi State.
The vehicle was later found abandoned at a former police station in Ayetoro, Ekiti State.
Confirming the incident, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, said soldiers have been deployed to comb the bush to rescue the victims.
He said operatives from police commands in the three affected states are working together on the rescue operation because the crime occurred around border communities.
