The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has begun educating electorates across Rivers on the Rainbow Coalition’s voting pattern for 2027 general elections.

At the coalition’s townhall in Abua-Odual Local Government Area of Rivers, on Friday, Wike, the National Leader of the coalition, urged the residents to massively support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term.

He praised Tinubu’s administration for stabilising critical national sectors and restoring industrial harmony in tertiary institutions, calling on the residents to remain steadfast with the current administration heading into 2027.

The minister equally urged the residents to vote Mr Kinsley Chinda for Rivers governor, Mr Felix Obua for Rivers West Senatorial District, and Solomon Boss for Abua-Odual-Ahoada East Federal Constituency, all under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He added that since he had given four electoral seats to the APC, he would not go empty handed being the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He decided that the Abua-Odual State Constituency should go to the PDP and asked the people to vote for Mr John Iderima, the PDP candidate for the Abua-Odual state constituency.

“This is what we mean by rainbow, rainbow, rainbow. So all our votes, whether you’re in PDP,  APC, we will put our votes together for Tinubu and all the candidates mentioned,” he said.

He emphasised that the Rainbow Coalition represents a broad alignment designed to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Wike advised the electorates against surrendering their future to political gamblers without vision or proven developmental records, noting that repeated presidential runs without a clear governance plan offer no real solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.

According to him, leadership requires concrete action and foresight rather than perpetual political trial and error.

He warned against politicians who treat presidential contests like games of chance.

Drawing comparisons to international political figures, Wike argued that while leaders like Abraham Lincoln ran multiple times driven by a clear national vision, several Nigerian political contenders continue to run purely out of political habit.

Defending his record in Rivers, Wike reminded the people of Abua-Odual that project delivery—not political rhetoric—should dictate their electoral choices.

He challenged other former governors to show their contributions to the local government area, pointing to his administration’s projects in the area, during his tenure as governor of the state.

On his part, Chinda commended Wike for moving from community to community, mobilising support for Tinubu and other candidates under the rainbow coalition.

“This is a system that we will sustain when we come into government. We have learnt from him, and we will continue.

“It will be a bottom-up approach; the people will decide and determine their fate in government,” Chinda said.

Earlier, Prof. Continue Eketu, who spoke on behalf of Abua-Odual communities, described Wike as his idol and reeled out projects executed in the LGA during his tenure.

Praising Wike’s leadership style, Eketu said, ”we have decided and agreed to vote massively for all candidates of the rainbow coalition”. (NAN)
