Nigeria’s Super Falcons produced a commanding performance to defeat Comoros 5-0 and secure a 7-0 aggregate victory in the women’s Olympic football qualifiers on Tuesday.

The Super Falcons, who won the first leg 2-0, stepped up their performance in the return fixture, scoring five goals to complete a comprehensive triumph.

Toni Payne opened the scoring in the 41st minute, giving Nigeria a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Uchenna Kanu doubled the advantage in the 58th minute, before Payne struck again six minutes later to extend Nigeria’s lead to 3-0.

Kanu completed her brace in the 67th minute, putting the Super Falcons firmly in control before Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty in the 71st minute to seal the 5-0 win.

The result gave Nigeria a 7-0 aggregate victory over Comoros, following their 2-0 success in the first leg, and strengthened their campaign in the Olympic Games women’s qualification tournament.

The emphatic win was built on Nigeria’s attacking efficiency after the break, with Payne and Kanu scoring twice each before Ucheibe’s penalty completed the rout.

The Super Falcons will now look ahead to the next stage of the qualifying competition as they continue their pursuit of a place at the Olympic Games.
