The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has vowed tough crackdown on kidnappers if elected president in 2027.
He made this pledge on Wednesday during a town hall meeting in Calabar, Cross River State with party stakeholders and NDC supporters.
He said his administration would not tolerate kidnapping and attacks on schoolchildren.
“Anybody that kidnaps school children and goes into the bush, we will be in that bush with him, wherever it is. We are not scared of him,” he said.
Obi vowed that security agencies under his watch would pursue kidnappers into their hideouts to ensure the safe rescue of abducted school children.
He also promised to unite Nigeria, fight corruption, and invest more in education and healthcare, describing them as critical to development of the country.
According to him, his candidacy represents a new Nigeria anchored on shared responsibility and a commitment to transforming the nation.
