The Alex Otti Foundation has announced a cash reward of N500,000 each for six first-class graduates, in recognition of their academic excellence and as support for their future endeavours.

Speaking during the induction of the 2026 scholars, Abia State Governor Alex Otti congratulated the graduates for making themselves, their parents and the foundation proud, describing their achievement as the beginning of a journey that would require discipline, sound decisions and a commitment to excellence.

Otti noted that four of the six beneficiaries were present at the event, while the remaining two were participating in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp.

Addressing the graduates, the governor said their outstanding academic performance had set them apart and placed greater expectations on them.

“It is the beginning of a journey, but you started well. Where you go from here will depend largely on you and the decisions you make from now henceforth,” he said.

He urged them to sustain their academic standards and demonstrate the values that earned them the distinction, warning that people would henceforth expect more from them.

“You have set yourself apart, and it is a great challenge. People will be looking at you differently. Expectations will be higher than you expect yourself. I mean expectations from other people,” Otti said.

The governor encouraged the beneficiaries to live up to those expectations and strive to surpass them as they progress in their careers and personal lives.

He described the graduates as members of an informal group of first-class achievers and reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to supporting their next steps.

“The Alex Otti Foundation has taken a decision to support this journey that you have started, with a modest sum of five hundred thousand naira each,” he announced.

Otti added that the beneficiaries would receive alerts confirming the transfer of the money to their phones.

He congratulated the graduates once again, expressing confidence in their ability to build on their academic success and make meaningful contributions to society.
