The Nigeria Police Force has listed recovery of a dead baby and the arrest of the mother who allegedly killed her in the Federal Capital Territory among the achievements of operatives in operations conducted across the country in the last 24 hours
This was revealed in a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, published on the social media handle of the police on Monday.
Iniedu also listed other arrests linked to murder cases and other crimes, recovery of weapons as well as rescue of kidnapped victims among the achievements of police operatives across the country.
In the FCT, Iniedu said surveillance personnel of the Command who responded to a distress call about an abandoned baby in a nearby bush discovered the body of a baby boy with severe cut injuries on the neck and abdomen.
He added that preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the mother, 27-year-old Precious Yohana, who confessed to delivering the baby unaided and using a razor blade to inflict the injuries.
Iniedu said the case is being investigated by the CID Abuja.
In Kogi State, detectives arrested two female suspects, Olorunada Suzan and Sixirat Moses, in connection with the murder of 90-year-old Juliana Joel (also known as Oyohu).
This was after the elderly woman was found dead under her bed with her throat slit.
The body has been deposited in the morgue as investigations continue under the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Lokoja.
In Kano State, police operatives arrested 20-year-old Halifa Miko for the alleged stabbing of his 30-year-old stepmother, Hajara seven times in the stomach with a long-pointed iron.
Hajara was rushed to Dawakin/Tofa General Hospital where she was confirmed dead.
The weapon was recovered, and the case is under investigation by SCID Bompai.
In Rivers, three members of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping gang identified as Chinemerem Uchiewọ, Michael Ishaka and Gideon Okah — were arrested over alleged involvement in multiple murder, robbery and kidnapping incidents.
Iniedu said the suspect confessed to multiple robberies and kidnappings as well as the robbery and murder of one Joseph Onyeka in Rumuji community on 23 July 2026.
Officers recovered six firearms, including two AK-47 rifles (one previously snatched from an injured police inspector), two pump-action rifles, a double-barrel gun, a locally made revolver and 58 rounds of ammunition from the suspects.
In Kano, police operatives rescued two abducted farm labourers from kidnappers, while a five-year-old girl was also rescued from an alleged abductor in the FCT.
Iniedu also listed arrest of four suspected armed robbers in Anambra State, and the recovery of firearms and other exhibits in several states including Bayelsa, Ekiti, Osun and Anambra among the achievements of police operatives in the last 24 hours.
He added that investigations into all the cases are ongoing under the relevant State Criminal Investigation Departments and the FCT CID.
The Force spokesperson also appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing efforts to maintain law and order.
