EUROMATCH NPFL: ‘Thanks For Donating The Three Points’ — Rangers Mock Abia Warriors After Derby Win

Reigning champions Rangers International have mocked Abia Warriors after defeating them 3-1, in the Oriental Derby in Sunday’s week 7 EUROMATCH NPFL fixture in Awka, completesports.com reports.

The result continued Rangers’ dominant home record against Abia Warriors, going four straight home wins in the derby.

Experienced striker Godwin Obaje opened the scoring in the 37th minute , tapping in to give Rangers a deserved lead.

Four minutes after the restart, Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage, putting the hosts firmly in command, but on 53 minutes Abia Warriors pulled one back from the penalty spot through Emeka Obioma.

But in the 95th minute Akorode Daniel sealed it with Rangers’ third, restoring the two-goal cushion to secure the three points.

After the game Rangers took to their official X handle to rub it in on their rivals.

The win took Rangers to the top of the NPFL table on 16 points, one point above unbeaten Rivers United, while Abia Warriors remain in 14th position on eight points after seven league fixtures.

The Flying Antelopes have now won four of their last five Oriental Derbies at home and are unbeaten against Abia Warriors in Awka since 2022.

Prior to the encounter Rangers provided free buses to bring fans from Enugu to Awka.
