Some members of the Osun State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have rejected the composition of the recently released alternate Osun State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), alleging violations of party guidelines, due process and the principle of inclusiveness.
The aggrieved party officials, who expressed their dissatisfaction in an official rejoinder signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola, and three other executive members, called for an immediate review of the list.
They particularly faulted the omission of several members of the State Working Committee, who they said were expected to be statutory members of the campaign council under applicable party guidelines.
According to them, the exclusion of recognised party officials raised concerns about consultation, due process and respect for the party’s established leadership structure.
The APC stakeholders also questioned the emergence of a new campaign structure, which they said appeared inconsistent with an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun State.
They noted that following the directive, the governor had inaugurated a broad-based campaign team to coordinate President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign across the state.
It was learnt that some party chieftains reportedly created a parallel campaign structure to challenge the one which has Governor Adeleke as the Director and they instead listed Bola Oyebamiji, APC governorship candidate in last governorship election as Director-General and Tajudeen Lawal, Osun APC chairman, as Deputy- Director-General.
The signatories, however, suggested that the newly released list could be more understandable if it was intended for a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the Presidential Campaign Council.
They stressed the need for clarity to prevent confusion, duplication of responsibilities and unnecessary friction within the party’s campaign structure.
“The State Executive Committee remains an integral part of the APC’s organisational framework and cannot be sidelined in the constitution of a statewide campaign council,” they stated.
The party officials called for consultations involving relevant stakeholders, including the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General, to ensure proper alignment and coordination.
The rejoinder was also signed by Deaconess Adesola Ayangbile, Welfare Officer; Rasheed Adeniji, Assistant Organising Secretary; and Abiola Ololade, Ex-Officio member of the APC Osun State Chapter.
