The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that no opposition party in Nigeria can match its political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, boasting of 31 governors, two governors from other parties and over 261,000 party executives nationwide.
APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made the declaration on Wednesday during the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“No political party has our structure; we have over 261,000 party exco members and 31 governors, with two other governors supporting from different parties,” Yilwatda said.
The event was attended by President Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, APC governors and other party leaders.
Also present were Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
Yilwatda said the attendance reflected support for Tinubu’s re-election bid across political divides.
“Your presence here makes our shared commitment as a party clear; we want a better country, supporting Mr President and Vice President to return for a second term,” he stated.
“The atmosphere shows all kinds of victory even before the election.”
The APC chairman also praised Tinubu’s administration, claiming that its infrastructure projects and other achievements were visible across the country.
“President Bola Tinubu has made tremendous progress over the last few years in projects that can be visibly seen, felt and touched,” he said.
The inauguration followed the release of the party’s revised Presidential Campaign Council list, which named Wike as campaign coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT.
Adeleke and Soludo were also listed as coordinators for Osun and Anambra states, respectively.
Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari was appointed Director-General of the council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serves as secretary.
The presidential election is scheduled for January 16, 2027, while the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will hold on February 6.
