A toddler identified as Saida Haruna has died after falling into pit in Aloko Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, 2026 when Saida attempted to look into the pit that was allegedly dug by her brother and his playmate.
According to one Muhammed Idris, the minor lost her balance, fell inside the pit and d!ed instantly.
“Saida Haruna woke up this morning and went to Islamic School (Karate). After returning home, she went behind their house where there was pit dug by her own brother and another boy,” he wrote.
"She bent down to look inside the pit, lost her balance fell inside and d!ed immediately.
"The d3ath of the innocent child has thrown the entire community into mourning. A small hole dug for play has now k!lled a person. Everyone is crying for the innocent child.
“May her soul rest in peace. May Allah give her family the fortitude to bear the loss.”
