The Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Ogun State, Abayomi Sanyaolu, has said President Bola Tinubu has nothing more to offer Nigeria and should make way for a new generation of leaders in 2027.

Sanyaolu stated this at the campaign flag-off of the APM and the unveiling of the party’s candidate for Ogun West Senatorial District in Ilaro, Ogun State.

He said Nigeria needs a leader who understands the daily struggles of ordinary citizens and has the energy to address the country’s development challenges.

“In my opinion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should complete his tenure and allow a new generation of leadership to emerge, with Governor Seyi Makinde given the opportunity to continue the work of national development,” he stated.

Sanyaolu said the next President must be a leader who places the interest of Nigerians above personal considerations.

“I am not condemning anybody. I am simply expressing my political opinion. We need a leader who can move around, interact with ordinary Nigerians and understand their day-to-day challenges rather than remain behind closed doors,” he added.

According to him, Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is an experienced politician whose record in public service has prepared him for national leadership, stressing that integrity, fear of God and genuine concern for humanity should define leadership.

The APM chairman described Ogun as an important political centre, noting that figures like former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the late Chief M.K.O. Abiola and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka have contributed to its national significance.

He urged voters in Ogun Central to scrutinise candidates seeking their votes in 2027 and called on women to support capable female candidates.

Also speaking, the party’s gubernatorial candidate, Babajide Rotimi, urged residents of Ogun West to vote for APM candidates in 2027, saying the district needs purposeful leadership capable of addressing its developmental challenges.

The party’s senatorial candidate for Ogun West, Abiola Itakpe, also pledged to prioritize infrastructural development if elected, noting that improved public infrastructure is needed to accelerate economic growth and enhance residents’ welfare.
