The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced plans for emergency repairs on the Apo–Karu 132kV transmission line following a fault that disrupted power supply to the Karu Transmission Substation.
The fault occurred at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, causing a loss of electricity supply to the substation.
TCN in a statement on Tuesday said its engineers discovered a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2 during an on-site inspection to determine the cause of the disruption.
The company explained that its maintenance team would carry out emergency repairs on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, as part of efforts to restore the affected transmission line.
The outage has affected electricity distribution by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba and neighbouring communities.
TCN apologised to customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the interruption, assuring them that urgent steps were being taken to restore the line and normalise electricity supply.
