American singer and actress Selena Gomez has opened up about how excessive nicotine vaping affected her voice, warning fans against taking up the habit.
The 34-year-old made the revelation in a video shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, October 18, admitting that quitting nicotine has been difficult.
“I’m not going to be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot. Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it, or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it. It’s so stupid, and it’s changed my voice,” she said.
Gomez acknowledged that some fans might no longer enjoy listening to her voice because of the changes, adding that she understood if they chose to stop listening.
She also expressed her determination to quit vaping, although she admitted that staying away from nicotine would not be easy.
The singer had previously addressed questions about changes to her voice during an Instagram Live session in December, explaining at the time that her throat sometimes swelled internally.
Gomez has also spoken publicly about her health challenges, including lupus, a kidney transplant in 2017 and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.
