The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including two security operatives and an Indian national, over the alleged assault of two truck drivers at Karma Agric Feeds and Foods Limited along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The arrests followed a viral video showing the drivers being assaulted at the company’s premises at Kilometre 12 of the expressway in Ibadan.

The police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a statement on Tuesday that the command began investigating the incident after receiving information about the video around 8:30 am.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, directed detectives to identify and arrest those involved.

Preliminary findings indicated that the incident began on Saturday when a truck driver objected to a designated parking space over concerns that it could damage his vehicle’s tyres.

The truck owner, Akinpelu Sarafa, 47, reportedly said the driver was compelled to park at the spot, where one of the tyres later burst.

The disagreement escalated when the driver allegedly requested a replacement tyre, but the company refused. The driver then used his truck to block the company’s entrance, triggering a physical confrontation involving the drivers, security operatives and an Indian national.

The two injured drivers were identified as Ridwan Olajide, 34, and Taiwo Yinusa, 37. They were taken to a hospital in the Academy area of Ibadan for treatment.

The police said the investigating officer visited the victims at the hospital and obtained their statements to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The arrested suspects were identified as Olowu Oluwadamilare and Sodeke Olamide, both security operatives attached to the company, and Harjit Singh, 46, an Indian national associated with the firm.

The command said investigations were ongoing to establish each suspect’s role in the incident and determine their culpability.

The case has been transferred to the Special Enquiry Bureau in Eleyele, Ibadan, for further investigation.

The police said anyone found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
