ADC Suspends Jigawa Chieftain Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities

Comfort KALU

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa State has suspended one of its chieftains, Hon. Aliyu Muhammad Tukur Gantsa, from party activities for 12 months over alleged anti-party activities and violations of party discipline.

‎ The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the party’s Polling Unit Chairman, Ahmad Garba, on Monday.

The statement said the decision followed concerns relating to party discipline, internal unity and compliance with established party procedures.

It added that the suspension was approved by the ADC Ward Executive Committee on October 5, 2026, and the Local Government Working Committee on October 16, 2026.

‎Among the allegations against Gantsa were engaging in public anti-party activities and openly declaring allegiance to an aspirant who lost the party’s primary election, actions the party said undermined its officially nominated candidates and electoral interests.
‎
‎During the suspension period, Gantsa is barred from attending or participating in ADC meetings, rallies, caucuses, and other official gatherings at the polling unit, ward, local government, state, and national levels.

‎He is also prohibited from representing the party in public, political, legal or media engagements, as well as exercising rights and functions associated with his party membership or any position held within the ADC.
‎
‎However, the statement said Gantsa could appeal the decision by submitting a formal written appeal to the Ward Executive Committee or Local Government Executive Committee within 14 days of receiving the suspension notice.
