Nigerian national Chimaobim Adedayo Igbojekwe has been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after he was reportedly found with his pants off and his genitals exposed in a residential area in Pennsylvania.
Igbojekwe was arrested by local police on September 27 in East Pennsboro Township after officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. He was subsequently charged with ind£c£nt £xposür£ and disorderly conduct.
He later pleaded guilty to one disorderly conduct charge, while the ind£c£nt £xposür£ charge and another disorderly conduct charge were withdrawn. ICE took him into custody on October 1 following the conviction.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Igbojekwe was identified in local reports as a canvasser for Janelle Stelson, the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District, at the time of the incident.
However, Stelson’s campaign has denied that he ever worked for the campaign, saying it had never heard of him before his arrest.
DHS said Igbojekwe legally entered the US in June 2017 but remained in the country after his authorised stay expired in November 2019. He was later granted deferred action by the Biden administration in September 2021.
