Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has declared that he personally met several of President Bola Tinubu’s former classmates at Chicago State University in the United States, dismissing opposition criticism of the President’s academic credentials.

Alausa made the disclosure during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, November 3, insisting that his familiarity with the university gave him sufficient grounds to defend Tinubu’s educational background.

Asked directly whether he had met any of the President’s former classmates, the minister replied: “Oh, many, many, many in person!”

Alausa said he had lived in Chicago for almost 30 years and visited Chicago State University on several occasions.

He maintained that Tinubu attended the institution and graduated with a first-class degree in Accounting.

The minister dismissed criticism from opposition politicians, insisting that the President’s academic history should no longer be a subject of controversy.

“Forget the nonsense the opposition is peddling,” he said.

Alausa also described Tinubu as exceptionally intelligent, arguing that his academic background and international exposure distinguished him as a leader.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is literally a genius,” he declared.

The minister went further to defend the President’s performance in office, claiming that his administration had transformed Nigeria from a struggling country into one experiencing economic growth.

According to him, Tinubu inherited a country in a difficult condition but had introduced policies that were producing results within three years.

Alausa’s remarks come amid longstanding controversy surrounding Tinubu’s academic records, which have repeatedly attracted scrutiny from opposition politicians.

Although the minister insisted that he had personally encountered several of Tinubu’s former classmates, he did not identify them by name in the remarks reported from the interview.
