The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the death of its Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, following a brief illness.

The Ogun State Sector Command made this known in a statement signed on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, Chief Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi.

The command described Ogunjobi’s death as a great loss to the corps, his colleagues and the wider road safety community.

It said the late sector commander would be remembered for his leadership, commitment to road safety administration and dedication to the mandate of the organisation.

According to the statement, Ogunjobi contributed to efforts to promote safer roads, improve public enlightenment, strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance compliance with traffic regulations during his service.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS2.2 Ogun State Sector Command, announces with profound sadness the passing of its Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, following a brief illness,” the statement read.

In a separate statement, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, expressed grief over Ogunjobi’s death, describing it as another devastating loss to the corps, which is still mourning the death of its former Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu.

Mohammed, who conveyed condolences on behalf of the management and workforce of the corps, extended his sympathies to Ogunjobi’s family, officers and marshals of the Ogun State Sector Command and others affected by his death.

“There are moments when words become inadequate to express the depth of our grief. This is one of such moments for the Federal Road Safety Corps. Just as we struggle to come to terms with the loss of our former Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, the death of Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi has brought another painful reminder of how fragile life is and how deeply the loss of a colleague can affect an entire family,” he said.

The Corps Marshal urged officers and marshals, particularly those in the Ogun State Sector Command, to remain united during the period of mourning, noting that the death of a colleague affects the entire corps.

He added that although death ends a life, it cannot erase the memories, relationships and contributions of someone who dedicated his life to service.

The corps marshal also prayed for the peaceful repose of Ogunjobi’s soul and asked God to grant his family and the entire FRSC community the strength to bear the loss.

The Ogun command said further details regarding the late commander’s funeral arrangements would be communicated in due course, and prayed for the repose of his soul and for strength for his family, the corps and others affected by his death.

The command also expressed condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues and associates, describing his death as an irreparable loss.
