NNPCL has raised petrol price amid disputed fuel discount.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has increased its Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, pump price to ₦1,405 per litre from ₦1,370 per litre.
Checks by NewsOnline on Friday showed that the state-owned oil company had raised its petrol price by ₦35 per litre, following a price adjustment reportedly announced on Thursday and implemented on Friday.
Several fuel pump attendants, who spoke to NewsOnline on condition of anonymity, confirmed the latest increase.
However, NNPCL has yet to publicly explain the reason for the adjustment.
The latest development comes days after the company reverted to ₦1,370 per litre on Monday, following an earlier increase to ₦1,405 per litre.

The latest price adjustment means motorists are once again paying more for petrol at NNPCL filling stations, amid discussions surrounding a proposed fuel price discount.
On Thursday, the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, announced a proposed fixed petrol gantry price of ₦1,375 per litre ahead of the January 16, 2027, presidential election.
The latest increase is likely to draw further attention to petrol pricing and the relationship between gantry prices and pump prices as Nigerians continue to monitor changes in the downstream petroleum market.
Further clarification from NNPCL on the latest price adjustment is awaited.
