Bendel Insurance have raised concerns over the whereabouts of their goalkeeper, Joshua Baba, after the player failed to return to the club following an injury break.
The former Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, champions said Baba was last seen on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
In a statement signed by the club’s Director of Media and Communications, Kehinde Osagiede, Bendel Insurance explained that Baba was given a two week break after sustaining an injury during the club’s opening fixture of the new NPFL season against Warri Wolves.
The goalkeeper was expected to return to the team after the break and continue his recovery and training with the rest of the squad.
However, Baba has yet to report back to the club and has reportedly remained unreachable.
His continued absence has raised concerns within the club, particularly because the player has not provided any official explanation for failing to return or maintain communication with the management.
Bendel Insurance said it considers the goalkeeper’s absence unauthorized and warned that it would take the necessary steps in line with his contractual obligations.
The club stated that disciplinary and administrative measures would be taken against Baba in accordance with the terms of his contract and the applicable regulations governing the NPFL and the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
Bendel Insurance also confirmed that both the NPFL and NFF had been formally notified about Baba’s situation.
The club said the relevant football authorities had been informed about the circumstances surrounding the goalkeeper’s absence.
Baba’s disappearance comes at a time when Bendel Insurance are preparing for their ongoing NPFL campaign and will want all registered players available as they seek to compete strongly in the league.
The club is now expected to await further developments while the appropriate authorities are kept informed of the situation.
