Ibrahim Kashim, one of the governorship candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 elections, has resigned from the party, leaving his next political move uncertain.
Kashim announced his resignation in a letter dated October 16, 2026, addressed to the NDC chairman in Bauchi Local Government Area.
He said the decision followed careful reflection but maintained that leaving the party would not weaken his commitment to the development of Bauchi State.
“Our political journey is far from over, and our commitment to the rescue and development of Bauchi State remains unwavering,” he said.
Kashim added that he would announce the next phase of his political journey in due course, urging his supporters to remain calm, united and steadfast.
He said his political mission went beyond party affiliation and called for continued engagement with individuals and groups committed to building a peaceful and prosperous Bauchi State.
“In due course, we shall communicate to you the next phase of our struggle and the direction we intend to take,” he said.
The former candidate also urged his supporters to remain committed to what he described as the collective effort to secure a better future for the state and the country.
Earlier the Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier listed Kashim among 15 NDC governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections.
His resignation comes ahead of the elections, although he has yet to disclose whether he intends to join another political party or pursue a different political path.
