The vehicle of Innocent Umar Jabayang, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency in the upcoming general elections, has reportedly been attacked by political thugs.

The attack, which occurred during the weekend in Yorro Local Government Area, has continued to ignite reactions across the constituency.

Condemning the attack, the APGA governorship candidate for Taraba State, Danji Usman Shiddi, called on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to book.

“The vehicle, with registration number GBB-339AA, suffered damage to its windscreens, body and campaign materials,” Shiddi explained.

Describing the incident as an attack on democratic values and political tolerance, he insisted that elections should be decided through ideas and persuasion rather than intimidation and violence.

Shiddi called on the state Police Command, the Department of State Services (DSS), INEC and other relevant stakeholders to investigate the incident and prevent further escalation.

He reaffirmed his party’s commitment to peaceful campaigning, declaring that the incident would not discourage its mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Also speaking, Jabayang called on the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to ensure, as a matter of urgency, the enforcement of the state’s anti-thuggery law.

The candidate, who also raised concerns over growing political violence and alleged selective judgment in the state, urged his supporters to remain calm and avoid acts capable of igniting a crisis in the state.
