A 40-year-old British woman, Claire Chadwick, has passed away alongside her unborn baby after developing sepsis in Nigeria.
Chadwick was 37 weeks pregnant and expecting a baby girl with her husband, Ibrahim, when she reportedly developed complications that led to the baby's passing in the womb. She later died from septic shock.
The deceased had relocated from the United Kingdom to Nigeria to begin a new life with her husband. She had also built a considerable social media following, regularly sharing videos with Ibrahim on TikTok and Instagram about their relationship, faith and food challenges.
Following the tragedy, her devastated family launched a GoFundMe campaign with a target of £10,000 to facilitate the repatriation of her remains and those of her unborn daughter to the UK for burial.
Her sister, Shannon, said the family wanted both of them brought home so they could be laid to rest with dignity and surrounded by their loved ones.
Shannon also described her late sister as a strong-minded woman who lived life on her own terms and left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
